Kutani
Kutani pottery was first produced in the province of Kaga about the middle of the seventeenth century.

Amongst the variation of wares produced by the end of the next century was an imitation of Hizen ware when a porcelain, and a beautiful red was introduced and gold was added.

Designs were purely nature painting, tiny landscapes, birds, and other makers of porcelain, especially Arita, sent their pieces in a white state to be decorated here. The only figures on old Kutani are children playing.
